A walk turned Nightmare ðŸ˜
Yesterday, I was out walking for about an hour. I was wearing a black jacket, a cap (since I was too lazy to wear a full head covering), and black yoga pants. I wasn’t wearing anything flashy, which made it even more surprising when everything unfolded.
At some point, I decided to lean on a car to rest for a bit, but as I stood there, I noticed a lot of cars passing by, and guys were staring or trying to get my attention. Then, a guy in what looked like a Mercedes stopped and asked me if there was a city center nearby. I told him I didn’t know, and then he randomly asked me if I had someone in my life. I quickly said “Yes I do” just to makehim leave me alone but instead of backing off, he hit the steering wheel in frustration, acted all annoyed, and before driving away, he even winked at me.
Another guy kept staring at me, then parked his car and got out, but I walked away. There was also another one who tried to get me to ride with him. One guy was blasting music so loudly that his car was shaking from the high volume. So many men were staring, it was honestly shocking.
I’m honestly shaking. I never expected that I just going out for a walk would turn into all of this. So many cars passed by more than ten I think, And I just couldn’t believe it. And they were all either Emirati, Indian or Saudi.
I felt like I was walking around naked with how many cars stopped and how some of them tried to get me to get in by moving his fingers to come to him. I’m honestly stunned because this never happened in Egypt, except for maybe once and I don’t even remember when or where and what happened. Back home, the worst thing happens is guys catcalling from a distance, but it never gets to the point where someone parks, asks if I have someone in my life, or literally stares at me in such an instance way. It was truly terrifying.
Later, on my way home, I was walking back the same way, and after a while, I saw the same Mercedes again. At first, I thought, No way , it can’t be him again. But then I looked closer, and it was the same guy. He even gestured with his hands as if to say, Oh it’s you again. I didn’t even hesitate I just flipped him off and kept walking.
The thing is, I went out for a walk to clear my head after being cooped up at home, and all this happened. I tried not to let it bother me, so I opened WhatsApp and started messaging my friends that I was shocked, Laughing about the whole thing . And on my way back. I put on some music and began walking. Feeling happy even running like a fool.
